Chronic stress is a disease. It can be detected through EU-recognized instrumental diagnostics, which are useful for assessing the damage and, of course, for rehabilitating the psychoneurophysiological system.

“Stress and inflammation in the body are directly related and cause damage to our human system. Today, they are finally measurable, and this diagnostic method, which uses scientifically proven instrumentation, is now useful for empirically demonstrating its effectiveness, not only for improved prevention and treatment, but also as documentary evidence in court proceedings.

This is what Dr. states with a hint of pride. Sabrina Ulivi, of the Ulivi Clinical Center, which has long had an innovative scientific protocol active in its practice, based on years of research, which combines psychotherapy with rehabilitation from chronic stress, through a verification process and results using EU-certified medical devices.

Sabrina Ulivi e John Cozzolino They have several scientific publications under their belt, the latest being The Human System. A Handbook on the Neurophysiological System in Relation to Other Organs is soon to be published.

Let's talk about the innovative protocol described in your book, which has been in use for some time at the clinical center you direct. First things first: What are these devices and what exactly do they involve?

“These are devices known and certified by the European scientific community, which clearly illustrate the patient's state. In psychotherapy, it is important to understand not only the psychological distress and mental state of the individual, but also that of the physical system, which is closely related. Diagnostics performed in this way allow us to determine with certainty, through a painless and non-invasive diagnosis performed directly on the patient (or in this case, the subject in question), illustrating with well-defined graphs and diagrams whether there are low-grade inflammation states. These conditions cause damage to the immune system, even significant ones, because, as has always been said, chronic stress is highly dangerous and pathogenic.

Stress and illness. A combination that has become inseparable, let's face it, even if it's still rarely considered.

“"Harmful stress, a term now highly overused, is defined as chronic stress, meaning when the state of pressure and psychophysical constraint in a given situation lasts more than 28 days. After that, it becomes an irreversible inflammatory disease. There is also beneficial stress, known as eustress, but this is not the case. In cases of violence or other abuse, including at work (and here we are talking about work-related stress) or within the family, the damages to be considered are different and highly disabling. Such, once proven by objective and empirical tests endorsed by the international scientific community, they become a substantial added value when assessing the damages themselves, including in court.".

A new frontier, therefore also in terms of expert and legal evaluation. You know something about it…

“This new and innovative diagnostic space, which obviously combines with the skills that a professional must have in the field, represents the first flag at the national level, as evidence admitted in a criminal trial in support of the injured party, which as an expert I was appointed to carry out.”

Science moves forward, it's true that it takes a long time and the barriers are sometimes insurmountable when you touch certain spheres, but evidently there are those who still move forward and open interesting windows.

“"I don't consider this a victory for me, but first and foremost that of the injured parties. In this or future proceedings. I have solely and exclusively placed my professionalism, integrity, and knowledge at the disposal of the law, to provide a useful contribution to those entitled to compensation for the damages they have suffered. And I hope I have made a breakthrough that will be useful to everyone.".

Dr. Cozzolino, Epigenetics as the study of the relationship between environment and community. What doesn't genetics tell us?

”"I have dedicated a great deal of time to researching the psychosocial determinants of cancer, and as a result of this profound interest, over the years the studies I have undertaken into the possible genesis of this century's disease have led me to embrace the universe in a holistic (i.e., comprehensive) sense. The discoveries of epigenetics, an absolutely cutting-edge science, have pushed me to consider human behavior, relationships, and cognitive processes in their entirety as part of the "field energy" synthesized by Einstein as the only "force capable of changing matter." From these foundations comes the search for our true genesis and the potential it truly represents once we have achieved awareness." Environments such as family, work, relationships—everything we are immersed in—can influence our psychosocial and immune systems, states Dr. Giovanni Cozzolino, a former NHS director and researcher in epigenetics and applied neuroscience, in his writings.

So can this “environment“ fall into good or bad health?

“"Certainly. Psychoneuroimmunomodulation, the protocol implemented by Dr. Ulivi, with whom I have co-authored several texts, has, in recent years, opened up a new and unexplored universe of the close relationship between the psyche and the immunometabolic dimension. This relationship, previously sketched incompletely by psychosomatic medicine, has surprisingly highlighted a reality and a dimension of shocking and fascinating breadth. The discipline reveals, or is preparing to do so, the real connections between these psychoneuroimmune dynamics using epigenetics, quantum physics, and immunology as operational tools to explain the mechanisms and possible pathological processes that an asynchrony between these dimensions can actually produce. The interference between the psychic universe and the one normally defined as "physical" are hypotheses or certainties that belong to the very history of medicine and, more recently, to psychology. The investigative tools relating to this knowledge can be defined as so many lighthouses that illuminate the darkest parts of the universe. "Man" in his relationships with the environment around him. From here, it's "easy" (let's say simpler) to understand the validity of comprehensive care for an individual experiencing social, work-related, or personal distress.’
