Washington, DC – A day of sport, friendship and Italian spirit enlivened the fields of the Bretton Woods Recreation Center, headquarters of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The new edition of the Italian football tournament in Washington DC, organized by Italians in DC, from the Com.It.Es of Washington DC and from the’National Association of Carabinieri – Washington DC Section.
The event, which is repeated with great success every six months – in June e November – has become a regular event for the Italian community in the American capital. Five teams competed with passion and sportsmanship: among them, the Roma Club, the Fiorentina Club, and the nice team “Never a Joy”, who achieved the final victory in this November edition. In the June competition, however, the winner was’International, the training directed by the National Carabinieri Association.
“Football is a universal language that unites, entertains and helps us keep our Italian identity alive even when we are away from home,” he declared. Maby Palmisano, president of the Com.It.Es of Washington DC.
To share the organization of the event also Roderico De Nitti, president of the’National Association of Carabinieri – Washington DC Section, who stressed:
“We're happy to promote moments of healthy social interaction, where sport and community values meet in a climate of friendship and mutual respect.”

The day, which started at 10:00 in the morning, ended at 14:00 with the award ceremony for the winning team, the delivery of the medals and of the Cup, the recognition to top scorer of the tournament and, of course, a toast with Italian prosecco.
Families, children, men and women shared moments of joy and team spirit, confirming once again how “Sport unites and strengthens the Italian community abroad”.
Leading the organization is the trio of Maby Palmisano, Paolo Omenetti, member of the board of Italians in DC e Roderico De Nitti made possible a day of joy, participation, and Italian pride.
