Last Wednesday, November 20th, the’Italian Culture Society of Washington DC hosted a special event, an enchanting aperitif entitled Savoring Italy, which celebrated the beautiful region of Campania. The event was a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the authentic flavors of one of the richest and most fascinating regions of Italy, thanks also to the warm hospitality of Francesca Casazza, Executive Director  of the Italian Culture Society, who made this special evening possible. Her hospitality created a unique atmosphere, helping make this evening an unforgettable experience.

During the event, participants were able to taste the delicacies of Campania, typical dishes that told the story of thegastronomic roots of a land famous for its extraordinary cuisine. From pasta to mozzarella, from rustici to pastiera, to fine wines, each dish offered a taste of Campania, a region boasting history and authentic flavors.

Leading the way on this culinary journey was the esteemed Francesca Romana Memoli, of the’Italian Academy of Language of Salerno and Naples, who enthusiastically recounted the wonders of her homeland. Francesca shared the treasures of this extraordinary region., allowing us to discover the natural, cultural and historical beauties that attract more and more tourists from all over the world. We traveled virtually in the Amalfi Coast, In the Cilento, until reaching Naples and its famous monuments, but also the many archaeological sites that Campania offers, making it an increasingly sought-after tourist destination.

In a highly engaging atmosphere, Francesca Romana Memoli introduced the Accademia Italiana, which offers annual weeks of Italian language courses in Naples and Salerno, a unique opportunity to experience Campanian culture firsthand. The evening concluded with a sweet gift: typical sweets of the Campania tradition, brought directly from his land, which delighted the guests' palates and ended an extraordinary event in style.

Savoring Italy was an evening that celebrated not only gastronomy, but also the passion, hospitality, and culture that Campania brings to the world. An event that paid homage to the beauty of a region that continues to enchant with its traditions, flavors, and history. A heartfelt thanks goes to’Italian Culture Society of Washington DC, a Francesca Casazza for the impeccable welcome, and Francesca Romana Memoli for giving us a trip to this wonderful land of southern Italy.
