La Hall of the Protomoteca in the Campidoglio, an emblematic place of Italian culture and history, recently hosted the awards ceremony for the Diplomatic Gazette Award, an initiative conceived by the director Marco Finelli In collaboration with the family of Ambassador Giovanni Jannuzzi, who passed away last year. Among the honorees, one prominent name captured the attention and admiration of the audience: Dr. Maby Palmisano, awarded the prestigious Jannuzzi Award.

A life dedicated to the Italian community

Maria Bina Palmisano, known to all as Maby, is a key figure for the Italian community in Washington DC and beyond. President of the Committees of Washington DC For more than two years, Maby has been building a cultural bridge between Italy and the United States, passionately and dedicatedly promoting Italianness in all its forms. Her commitment also extends to organizations "“DIVE” e “Italians in DC”, of which he is currently President, both organizations that work to support Italians abroad and promote Italian culture.

An academic and professional path of excellence

Graduated in Sociology at’Sapienza University of Romea, Maby continued his studies in England, specializing in statistics, and then obtaining a Ph.D. in “Sociology and Gender” at the University of Maryland. As a sociologist, her experience ranges from monitoring and evaluating development projects on a global scale, working for prestigious institutions such as the DU.S. Department of State, USAID, the World Bank, the Gates Foundation, and the DFIF.

The promotion of Italian culture as a life mission

In addition to her professional contributions, Maby has always cultivated a deep passion for promoting Italian culture, viewing it as both a duty and a privilege. Through events, initiatives, and collaborations, Dr. Palmisano is committed to disseminating the values and richness of Italy's artistic, historical and cultural heritage, helping to keep its memory alive even overseas.
