Thanks to the technological support of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalmedia.it\/ita\/index.html\"><strong data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"695\">Global Media<\/strong><\/a>, The initiative aims to tell the stories of men and women who, crossing the ocean, brought with them the essence of Italy: culture, art, cuisine, traditions, and ingenuity.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"911\">Project objectives<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"952\">The project, curated by Dr. Palmisano and Dr. <strong>Fabio Castagna<\/strong> (Global Media), was born with the aim of:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"954\" data-end=\"1648\">\n<li data-start=\"954\" data-end=\"1161\">\n<p data-start=\"956\" data-end=\"1161\"><strong data-start=\"956\" data-end=\"1021\">Rediscovering and valorizing Italian heritage in the United States<\/strong>: the traces of Italians will become living symbols of culture, tradition, innovation, and solidarity, involving all generations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1162\" data-end=\"1330\">\n<p data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1330\"><strong data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1196\">Promote the Italy brand<\/strong>: through events and digital content, the project highlights Italian excellence in its cultural, historical, and educational aspects.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1476\">\n<p data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1476\"><strong data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1384\">Involving families, young people and local communities<\/strong>: a path that conveys values of inclusiveness, participation, and a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1648\">\n<p data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1648\"><strong data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1542\">Reconnecting the Italian-American community to its roots<\/strong>: a digital bridge between the United States and Italian villages, enhancing places that are often less well-known.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"749\" data-end=\"798\">A journey through history, culture, and innovation<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"800\" data-end=\"1097\">\u201cTracing Italian Roots\u201d aims to transform the <strong data-start=\"853\" data-end=\"890\">Italian traces in the United States<\/strong> into living symbols of culture, tradition and ingenuity. The aim is to involve all generations, promote the\u2019<strong data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1025\">Italian excellence<\/strong> and strengthen the sense of belonging of Italian-American communities.\u201c<em><strong>It is an initiative that not only tells the story of the past, but builds a concrete link between those who live in the United States today and the Italian villages from which their roots come.<\/strong><\/em>\u201d, explains Maria Bina Palmisano, President of COMITES DC.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"800\" data-end=\"1097\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4412\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unitedstatesofitaly.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/locandinaitalianroots-746x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"746\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1504\" data-end=\"1541\">Main activities of the project<\/h2>\n<h3 data-start=\"1543\" data-end=\"1630\">Development of the interactive digital platform (Engine Data-Bank DC + webAPP DC)<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1632\" data-end=\"1807\">The digital platform of the project will be <strong data-start=\"1674\" data-end=\"1723\">easily accessible from smartphones and tablets<\/strong>, without the need for installation, requiring only an Internet connection.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1809\" data-end=\"2114\">Inside, a search engine will guide the user through a <strong data-start=\"1878\" data-end=\"1942\">interactive map of places of Italianity in the United States<\/strong>, with particular reference \u2013 in this first phase \u2013 to the COMITES constituency of Washington DC, and then extending to other US COMITES that wish to join.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2116\" data-end=\"2394\">Each point on the map will be linked to multimedia content divided into categories: Culture, History, Art, Architecture, Famous People, Restaurants and many others, allowing you to discover on-site living testimonies of the Italian contribution to American history.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2396\" data-end=\"2619\">Users will also be able to build <strong data-start=\"2434\" data-end=\"2461\">personalized itineraries<\/strong>, accompanied by <strong data-start=\"2479\" data-end=\"2515\">audio guides in Italian and English<\/strong>, enriched by immersive experiences thanks to the use of <strong data-start=\"2575\" data-end=\"2616\">3D technologies and Augmented Reality (AR)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2621\" data-end=\"3139\">The platform will also offer a <strong data-start=\"2653\" data-end=\"2683\">virtual trip to Italy<\/strong>, backwards in time and space, through dynamic links with the portal <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"#https:\/\/italea.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"2761\" data-end=\"2776\"><strong data-start=\"2762\" data-end=\"2772\">ITALY<\/strong><\/a>. Users will thus be able to virtually explore the villages and places of origin in Italy where it all began, rediscovering the roots of the traces left overseas. A <strong data-start=\"2952\" data-end=\"2970\">digital bridge<\/strong> uniting past and present, Italy and the United States, memory and discovery, where it will also be possible to access services and organizations for cultural trips to Italy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3141\" data-end=\"3409\">In this initial phase, a meeting between the <strong data-start=\"3185\" data-end=\"3215\">TEAM Tracing Italian Roots<\/strong> \u2013 composed of managers Maby Palmisano and Fabio Castagna \u2013 and a manager of the ITALEA portal will define the methods and timelines for sharing materials and services to support the project.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3416\" data-end=\"3470\">Data Planning and Collection: DATA-BANK DC<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3472\" data-end=\"3804\">The beating heart of the project will come to life in <strong data-start=\"3519\" data-end=\"3538\">Washington, D.C.<\/strong>, where the mapping of Italian traces present in the territory will begin. This phase represents much more than simple data collection: it is the beginning of a process that aims to give voice to the <strong data-start=\"3733\" data-end=\"3762\">hidden Italian memory<\/strong> among the streets of the American capital.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3985\" data-end=\"4283\">Subsequently, through the selection of local staff active in the community, the <strong data-start=\"4077\" data-end=\"4088\">Team DC<\/strong>, initially composed of two units, which will be accompanied in a growth and training process managed by expert GlobalMedia teachers, both in person (3 days) and online (E-learning).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4285\" data-end=\"4609\">The task of the DC Team will be to collaborate with local associations to <strong data-start=\"4363\" data-end=\"4424\">identify and document evidence of Italianness<\/strong>, transforming them into <strong data-start=\"4444\" data-end=\"4466\">digital content<\/strong> through a Content Management System (CMS): stories, faces, places, and symbols that will populate the platform&#039;s interactive cards.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4611\" data-end=\"4828\">This phase is not only organizational, but <strong data-start=\"4652\" data-end=\"4679\">deeply symbolic<\/strong>, with the aim of giving a face and a voice to the Italian roots that still live today and are intertwined with the American soul of Washington DC.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"4835\" data-end=\"4889\">Community engagement and cultural impact<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4891\" data-end=\"5300\">The project aims to involve <strong data-start=\"4923\" data-end=\"5005\">families, young people, students, cultural associations and Italian-American communities<\/strong>, promoting values of inclusiveness, participation, and a sense of belonging. The platform will also become an educational tool for Italian and international schools in Washington DC, strengthening ties between generations and rediscovering the importance of <strong data-start=\"5278\" data-end=\"5297\">Italian roots<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"5307\" data-end=\"5348\">Technology at the service of culture<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"5350\" data-end=\"5743\">Thanks to the integration of <strong data-start=\"5377\" data-end=\"5443\">Interactive search engines, Augmented Reality and 3D content<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"5445\" data-end=\"5470\">Tracing Italian Roots<\/strong> offers an immersive experience that unites past and present, Italy and the United States, memory and discovery.
